Heating & Cooling Management
Air conditioning your premises. The laws of physics are Heat rises and Cool air sinks. Air Conditioning our premises is the most power consuming costly item within our homes. There is a lot that we can do to make the air conditioning of our home as efficient as possible. Below are just some of what can be done to increase the efficiency.
- Closing of curtains or blinds to stop the sun from entering the rooms that we live in. (in summer and doing the opposite in winter)
- Up to 15% of cooling and heating is lost due to air leaks! Restricting the external air from entering or leaving our rooms from under doors or open windows (use door snakes or have door seals installed). Insulate ceiling spaces and walls (if possible) with insulation Batts (minimising heat in our roof space entering our living area and in winter assists with the heat not being lost into our ceiling space).
- The use of ceiling fans to cool instead of air-conditioning.
- Have the temperature set at 24 Degrees celsius instead of 22 Degrees Celsius. This will mean that the air conditioner does not need to work as hard.
